We just got back from a holiday in New Zealand and thought that the blackbird eggs would
have hatched by now.
Unfortunately, they hadn’t, and it looks very much as if the birds have abandoned
the nest, as they don’t seem to bother when you go near it now.    Perhaps the
neighbourhood cats were bothering them too much [...]

Noticed this week that New Zealand had yet another earthquake.   They’re usually moderate and don’t cause too much damage, but still, NZ seems to get quite a few of them.

Isn’t it terrible? Have been watching the news and the death toll is still rising, and aftershocks are still occurring.
It seems to me that natural disasters are becoming more frequent – or is it just that they are publicised more? I’m going with the former.
